Grades and Medals

Juniors and Adults are both able to work towards medal tests at various grades according to age and experience. Each successful test earns the dancer a certificate and a badge with a different plaque or mount for each grade.

Aimed at youngsters aged 3 to 8, students can take up to 12 medals in this category and move up to Stardance when they reach the age of 9.

Stardance is for dancers aged from 6 to 10 and features 12 dances selected from Ballroom, Latin, Old Time and Modern Sequence.

Higher Grades

For youngsters who have completed all of the Stardance medals and for those over the age of 10 the grades go in order from Bronze up to Silver, Gold Bars and Stars.

The IDTA requires dancers to have completed at least one medal at the appropriate grade before entering any official competitions, however dancers are under no obligation to take medal tests if they don't want to!
